Falcon Swim & Dive earns two All-RMAC awards; six voted First Team Academic All-Conference

ODESSA, Texas (April 8, 2026) – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released its 2025-26 Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving All-RMAC Teams and Award Winners along with First Team Academic All-RMAC selections and members of the Honor Roll.

Freshman Cooper Workman of the UT Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team earned Second-Team All-RMAC honors in the 200 backstroke while UTPB's men's 200 freestyle relay team was also second-team all-conference for the second year in a row. In addition, Colin Doyle, Tommy Betancour, Niklas Heelein and Chase Alderman of the UTPB men's team and Rowan McWhorter and Alondra Ortiz of the women's team were all voted First Team Academic All-RMAC.

Second-Team All-RMAC:
On the final day (Saturday) of the RMAC Championship, freshman Cooper Workman started with a top-four finish and a time of 1:51.18 in the prelims of the men's 200 backstroke. Then in the A Final, Workman remained in fourth place, earning Second-Team All-RMAC honors with a time of 1:49.35. For the second time during the championship meet, Workman rebroke his own school record in the 200 backstroke as his altitude adjusted time of 1:48.15 broke his previous adjusted record time of 1:48.74 set during a time trial on Wednesday.

In the 200 freestyle relay on Friday, the UTPB men's "A" team of Kell Frazier, Nico Turner, Logan Fultz and Colin Doyle finished with a school record time at 1:21.59, earning them Second-Team All-RMAC recognition with a fourth-place finish for the second year in a row. The previous school record in the men's 200 freestyle relay was 1:22.57 set in 2019. Doyle was a member of UTPB's second-team all-conference 200 freestyle relay team for the second year in a row while the other three members (Frazier, Turner, Fultz) were all freshman. Last year, UTPB earned its spot in the top-four with a time of 1:24.54.

The All-RMAC Teams are based on results at the RMAC Championships, with first and second-place finishers named First Team All-RMAC and third and fourth-place finishers earning Second Team All-RMAC recognition.

First-Team Academic All-Conference:
Colin Doyle is a junior from San Antonio, Texas, who holds a 3.79 GPA as a mathematics major. Doyle was a part of three relay records (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay) and one individual record (100 butterfly) at the RMAC Championship. Doyle swam anchor and helped UTPB earn second-team all-conference in the 200 freestyle relay (4th place). His best individual finish was eighth in the 100 butterfly. He was T53rd in scoring (17 points) and set three personal bests at the championship. He ranked third on the team and 57th in the RMAC according to FINA points.

Tommy Betancour is a junior from Corpus Christi, Texas, who holds a 3.83 GPA as a finance major. Betancour's best individual finish at the RMAC Championship was 14th in the 200 butterfly. He was also T78th in scoring (3 points) and set four season bests at the championship. He ranked 13th on the team according to FINA points.

Niklas Heelein is a senior from Eschborn, Germany, who holds a 3.66 GPA as a biology major. Heelein helped UTPB break the school record in two relays and finish in fifth place in three relays at the RMAC Championship. Heelein swam anchor in all three of those relays for the UTPB "A" team. He made the B Final and finished 13th in both the 200 IM and the 100 freestyle. He was T66th in scoring (8 points) and set four season bests and one personal best at the championship. He ranked fourth on the team and 61st in the RMAC according to FINA points.

Chase Alderman is a junior from Spring, Texas, who holds a 3.56 GPA as an exercise management major. Alderman helped UTPB break a school record and finish fifth in the 200 medley relay at the RMAC Championship. Alderman made the B Final in four individual events and finished in 14th place in three events (200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke). He was T63rd in scoring (10 points) and set three season bests and one personal best at the championship. He ranked sixth on the team and 69th in the RMAC according to FINA points.

Rowan McWhorter is a sophomore from Houston, Texas, who holds a 4.00 GPA as a human performance major. McWhorter was third on the Falcons (86th overall) in scoring (20 points) at the RMAC Championship. McWhorter helped UTPB set two school records in the relays. Her best individual finish was 16th in the 200 IM. She set one personal best and one season best at the championship. For the second year in a row, she ranked first on the team and 89th in the RMAC according to FINA points.

Alondra Ortiz is a senior from Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, who holds a 3.97 GPA as a finance major. Ortiz set six personal bests at the RMAC Championship. She also ranked ninth on the team according to FINA points.

Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league's athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

RMAC Academic Honor Roll:
Lastly, 10 members of the UTPB swimming & diving teams (8 men; 2 women) were named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
