FORT WORTH, Texas (January 11, 2026) – One week into Spring training, The University of Texas Permian Basin men's and women's swimming & diving teams traveled to TCU to compete with a very good in-state opponent and NCAA Division I program. The UTPB men fell 215-76 to TCU while the women lost 228-51 in a dual meet on Saturday, January 10, at the TCU Recreational Center.

"We had a solid meet just one week into our Spring training," spoke UTPB Head Coach Brian Schroeder. "We got to race fast athletes, which will help us going into conference championships."

Senior captain Owen Putnam got a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly and almost came from behind to win the 400 IM before finishing in second place.

The UTPB men's team also got second-place finishes from Sean Greene (200 freestyle) and Colin Doyle (100 butterfly), and also finished second in the 200 freestyle relay.

On the women's side, Rowan McWhorter finished second in the 200 breaststroke while UTPB's top-third place finishes on the women's side included Gia Delgado (1000 freestyle), Avery Momotiuk (100 breaststroke), Erika Hajduk (500 freestyle) and Ava McCormack (100 butterfly).

The Falcons had a combined six personal bests, and are looking to continue their momentum going into the coming weeks.

Next up: The Falcons will compete in their rescheduled meet at McMurry University next weekend, now taking on the War Hawks in a dual meet starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, from Abilene, Texas.
