EDMOND, Okla. (September 28, 2025) – The 2025-26 University of Texas Permian Basin men's and women's swimming seasons got underway this weekend at Oklahoma Christian University and the Mitch Park YMCA.
UTPB at Oklahoma Christian – Friday, September 26
In its first competition of the 2025-26 season, The University of Texas Permian Basin men's and women's swimming teams fell to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes Oklahoma Christian and Nebraska-Kearney on Friday night. The Falcons were finally able to take to the pool after a long travel day.
The UTPB men fell 1015-653 against the OC men in a dual meet. In the women's tri-meet, UTPB (459 points) was third, UNK (660) was second and OC (943) was first.
Freshman
Ava McCormack won the women's 50 backstroke with a time of 28.15 seconds. Junior
Zane Garner and freshman
Nico Turner went one and two in the men's 50 backstroke with times of 24.30 seconds and 24.44 seconds, respectively.
Freshman
Avery Momotiuk got third in the women's 50 breaststroke with a time of 32.05 seconds while freshman
Sean Greene took second in men's 50 breaststroke with a time of 26.72 seconds.
Junior
Colin Doyle won the men's 50 freestyle with a time of 21.38 seconds.
Freshman
Logan Fultz got third in the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 48.80 seconds.
Freshman
Mackenzie Gingerich got third in women's 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.23 while freshman
Nico Turner won the men's 100 backstroke with a time of 54.36 seconds.
Sophomore
Brannan Espericueta got third in men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.98.
Senior
Niklas Heelein finished third in the men's 500 freestyle at 5:00.99.
Doyle and Garner finished first and third in the men's 50 butterfly with times of 23.19 seconds and 23.96 seconds, respectively.
Momotiuk got 3rd in the 200 women's IM at 2:17.59 while Greene was third in the men's 200 IM with a time of 1:59.36.
The UTPB men's 200 freestyle relay team got out-touched by .26 and took second place with a time of 1:26.36.
Sam Freas Invitational – Saturday, September 27
The UTPB men finished third out of six teams, scoring 432 points. Oklahoma Christian was first with 640.5 points while Ouachita Baptist was second with 627 points. The UTPB women were seventh out of eight teams with 141 points.
The UTPB men's 200 medley team got third with a time of 1:34.30.
Freshman
Cooper Workman got third in the men's 100 backstroke with a time of 52.69.
Freshman
Kell Frazier got third in the men's 50 freestyle with a time of 21.56 seconds, missing out on second place by .01.
Doyle finished third in the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 47.48 seconds.
Workman was second in the men's 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.06.
Greene finished first in the men's 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.54.
Sophomore
Rowan McWhorter was second in the women's 100 IM with a time of 1:01.26. Doyle and Heelein finished second and third in the men's 100 IM with times of 52.75 seconds and 54.86 seconds, respectively.
Lastly, the UTPB men's 400 freestyle relay team finished second with a time of 3:07.67.
