SAN ANTONIO, Texas (November 2, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin men's and women's swimming programs combined to post 10 personal best times in a quick trip to Trinity University on Saturday, November 1. The UTPB women lost 204-67 while the men fell 167-103.
The UTPB women's team had seven personal best times and won three individual events competing against a top NCAA Division III program (ranked No. 20).
Freshman
Avery Momotiuk won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.15 and the 200 IM in 2:18.07.
Fellow-freshman
Ava McCormack won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.22.
The UTPB men's team got three personal bests and five individual wins with a relay win as well in competitive swim races.
Freshman
Sean Greene won the 100 breaststroke (57.21), 200 breaststroke (2:08.39) and the 200 IM (1:58.83).
Behind the efforts of Greene and Momotiuk, UTPB swept both 100 breaststroke and 200 IM events between the men's and women's competitions.
For the second year in a row in the dual meet against Trinity, junior
Colin Doyle won the 100 butterfly (52.01) and senior
Owen Putnam won the 200 butterfly (1:56.47).
Zane Garner, Greene, Doyle and
Niklas Heelein combined to win the 400 medley relay (3:27.77).
In the 100 backstroke, Garner got second place against Trinity for the second year in a row, improving his time from 54.74 seconds last year to 53.30 seconds this year.
One special event the two teams participated in was the 200 freestyle mixed relay, in which UTPB's "A" team consisting of Doyle, McCormack,
Rowan McWhorter and
Kell Frazier took second place with a time of 1:34.56.
"The team showed grit today against a very good Trinity team," spoke Head Coach
Brian Schroeder. "It's time to put in a couple hard weeks of training and get ready for our midseason meet."
