Scouting the Opponent
The Angelo State Rams are red-hot after a pair of victories to start the season. They have climbed to No. 5 in the AFCA poll after reaching the Super Region IV finals last season. The rushing attack for the Rams has been their strong point of the offense this season. The team has averaged 227.5 yards per game and run it into the end zone five times. Lone Star Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Nate Omayebu has rushed for 176 yards and a pair of scores, while Alfred Grear leads their ground game with 192 yards while averaging 10.7 yards per carry. Defensively they have only gotten to the quarterback twice and only picked off two passes on the young season.

Back on Track
This week the Falcons righted the ship against RV Western Colorado on Saturday. The Falcons needed a late comeback and double overtime, but they sent the home crowd home happy with a 34-31 victory over the Mountaineers. Carson Roberts did the honors with a 35-yarder in the second overtime.

Stepping Up
Despite being listed at No. 2 on the depth chart, Kory Harris got a lot of work Saturday night. The freshman carried the ball 21 times for 78 yards and a touchdown, the first of his career, in overtime. Getting the start, Brock Johnson had a major impact with his second touchdown of the season and converted a two-point play to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.

No Fly Zone
Once again the Falcons were stingy through the air on defense. The Mountaineers only threw for 188 yards and were held to just 226 total yards. The secondary made big plays, picking off a pair of passes including Donta Stuart's pick six.

Protecting the Basin
The Falcon defense had a huge night across the board. D'Ondre Robinson led the way with 11 tackles while Donta Stuart had six and an interception returned for a touchdown. Victor Idusuyi was unstoppable, recording a pair of sacks and five tackles-for-loss in the win. The sophomore also recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter.

Special Teams Still Special
Once again Falcon special teams had a big night. Carson Roberts connected twice on field goal attempts, including the game winner in overtime. Sergio Landeros averaged 40.2 points per punt including one over 50 yards. Western Colorado struggled to get the kicking game going, going 1-for-6 on the night.

Chasing History
MJ Link is tied for the program record with 13 career touchdown receptions. He needs just one to stand alone at the top for the Falcons in their young history.

Finishing Strong
The Falcons have owned the fourth quarter through two games, outscoring opponents 22-0.
