Josh Jirgal enters the 2018-19 year as UT Permian Basin's new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
"We are excited to welcome Josh to UT Permian Basin athletics," said Director of Athletics Scott Farmer. "This is an integral position that impacts all of our almost 400 students, and Josh will play a large part in our continued successes."
Jirgal spent the last three years as a strength and conditioning coach at Division I Sacramento State, where he oversaw Football, Men's Basketball, Track and Field, Men's Soccer, and Women's Tennis.
"What sold me on UTPB was the vision that Dr. Woodley and Mr. Farmer have for the school. I'm really excited about what we're doing here and to be a part of it," said Jirgal. "My personal style is founded on discipline. I really hammer that into everything we do and I am excited to continue to instill that here. I'm also looking to enhance this program not only through our training but through intern development and other ways throughout our department."
Jirgal graduated with his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Appalachian State. He has also had coaching stops at the US Army Special Operations Command, Wingate University, Champions Sports Performance, Webber International University, the Oakland Raiders, and the SF Rush Pro Rugby team.
