SAN ANTONIO, Texas (September 15, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team competed at the Lilly Kimbell Memorial Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University on Friday and Saturday. The Falcons faced opponents from Our Lady of the Lake as well as Lone Star Conference foes St. Mary's and Western New Mexico.

UTPB finished 2-9 in doubles and 2-17 in singles.

Earning doubles wins on Friday were freshman Paige Sitanggang and sophomore Dinethya Dharmaratne by a score of 6-1 over Josefina Bailetti and Eva Guta (WNMU) and freshman Peyton Jones and sophomore Sophia Rashid by a score of 6-2 over Nikoletta Pytel/Lucia Carmena (WNMU).

Earning singles wins were Sitanggang by a score of 6-1, 6-2 over Michaela Muller (OLLU) on Friday while Dharmaratne earned UTPB's only win on Saturday with a 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) third-set super tiebreaker win over Eva Guta (WNMU).

UTPB Head Coach Chris Tolson said, "It was a good tournament to start the year. Everyone had a great attitude and competed well. We have a good foundation we can build on and improve heading into ITA Regionals. On the women's side, Dinethya and Paige had a great tournament, competing well in singles and doubles. It was great to see how aggressive they were in doubles."

The Falcons' women's tennis team has two weeks to prepare for the ITA South Central Regional, which begins on Thursday, September 25, at the Summers Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas.
