ODESSA, Texas (July 28, 2025) – UT Permian Basin tennis excelled in the classroom with 11 student-athletes (6 men; 5 women) recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as scholar-athletes, fifth-most in the Lone Star Conference for 2024-25. In addition, both the Falcons' men's and women's tennis teams were also recognized as an All-Academic Team.
Earning the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award for all four years of their careers were
Teodora Vrucan and
Brooke Runyan. In addition, earning the honor for the second year in a row were
Lucas Nitzschke,
Jonas Krahofer and
Paige Bott.
Head Coach
Chris Tolson said, "I am extremely proud of our student-athletes for their efforts in the classroom over the past year and in their college careers. This was a special team that worked as hard on court as they did in their studies and really embraced what a student athlete is."
To earn scholar-athlete status a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.5 GPA for both semesters and be eligible for the entire season. To garner team status, the Falcons had to have a minimum of 3.2 and all letterwinners must factor into the cumulative GPA.
