FORT WORTH, Texas (April 27, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team faced No. 34 Dallas Baptist University on the road in its 2025 regular-season finale and was defeated 7-0 by the Patriots.
UTPB's lone win of the day was a 6-4 win by
Brooke Runyan and
Paige Bott at No. 1 doubles over Isabella Arana Rios and Madalyn Smelley, the No. 6-ranked doubles pair in the South Central Region from the Fall season.
It was the second year in a row Runyan was a part of a doubles pair that defeated DBU at No. 1 doubles.
Runyan and Bott are now 8-2 together this season overall (6-1 at No. 1 doubles), and are 6-2 together in the Lone Star Conference (4-1 at No. 1 doubles).
UTPB fell in straight sets in all six singles matches, but won at least five games in five of the matches.
Playing in LSC action in singles for the first time this season,
Tuva Asplund fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 singles as Emily Buchanan improved to a perfect 21-0 in singles matches on the season (17-0 at No. 5 singles).
In the next two matches, Runyan lost 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot against Katherine Robinson and
Rhea Singh fell 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 singles against Smelley.
