MIDLAND, Texas (April 17, 2025) – After a tough stretch of conference matches over the last few weeks, The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team took a break from conference action to play its final nonconference match of the season, which resulted in a 7-0 home win over NCAA Division III McMurry University on Thursday at the Bush Tennis Center.
Rhea Singh and
Fanny Bergstrom won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles while in singles,
Teodora Vrucan and
Dinethya Dharmaratne won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
In the other matches,
Sophia Rashid and Dharmaratne won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles, and in singles,
Brooke Runyan won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Rashid won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Singh and Bergstrom improved to 2-2 in doubles (all at No. 1 doubles) while in singles, Runyan improved to 4-8 (all at No. 1 singles), Vrucan improved to 7-5, and Dharmaratne moved to 8-4.

- The Falcons improve to 6-7 overall on the year and finish 5-2 in nonconference matches.
- UTPB has defeated McMurry in seven straight matches, including a sweep in each of the last four years.
Next Up: Easter Weekend at the Bush Tennis Center will continue as the Falcons return to Lone Star Conference action against Sul Ross State University at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, followed by Senior Day against Western New Mexico University at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19.
