KINGSVILLE, Texas (April 12, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team fell 5-2 at No. 41 Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Saturday.
The closest doubles match came in the top spot where No. 50 nationally-ranked
Paige Bott and
Brooke Runyan fell 6-4 against Guadalupe Tocci and Manuela Turolo.
Then in singles, UTPB lost the first three matches, but in the remaining three matches, had a lead after winning the first set. The Falcons won two of those three matches in third-set super tiebreakers.
Teodora Vrucan defeated Annalena Noll 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-7) at No. 3 singles, and
Dinethya Dharmaratne defeated Andrea Landaeta 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 6 singles.
In the match at No. 1 singles, Runyan came up short, 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6), against Tocci.

Team Records:
- UTPB falls to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the Lone Star Conference.
- With its win on Senior Day, Texas A&M-Kingsville (11-6 overall) has now won 10 of its last 13 matches and improves to 5-3 in Lone Star Conference play with a key LSC win now under its belt. The Javelinas have gone 4-2 in conference play in the last month, including a 4-3 upset win over No. 23 Dallas Baptist University in their home opener and a 4-3 home win over No. 21 Lubbock Christian University just two days ago. Kingsville competes the home portion of its schedule with a perfect, 3-0 record.
Next Up: The UTPB women's tennis team is back in action tomorrow for its third-straight nationally-ranked LSC road match at No. 31 Angelo State University at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April. 13, in San Angelo, Texas. Next week, the Falcons will then return home Easter Weekend to host three straight home matches at the Bush Tennis Center. The Falcons have a nonconference match against McMurry University scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, followed by Sul Ross State University at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, and Western New Mexico University at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19.
