LUBBOCK, Texas (March 2, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team fell down 2-0 to start the match, but rebounded to earn its second win of the season with a 4-2 victory over the Metropolitan State University of Denver on Sunday in neutral-court action in Lubbock, Texas.
Down 2-0, starting the string of four-straight singles wins for the Falcons was
Paige Bott with a 6-0, 6-4 decision over Kambra Roles at No. 4 singles.
Teodora Vrucan followed with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Victoria Ricaurte-Cabas at No. 3 singles while
Brooke Runyan tied it with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, three-set comeback win over Hanna Haber at No. 1 singles.
In the clinching match at No. 6 singles,
Dinethya Dharmaratne defeated Louise Hosking 6-1, 6-4. Both of UTPB's wins so far this season have come after a clinching win by a freshman.
Earlier in the match, Vrucan and
Tuva Asplund got the day started with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.

- UTPB improves to 2-2 on the season. The Falcons previously fell 6-1 at MSU Denver in their season opener in September 2018 (Denver, Colorado) and lost 7-0 in neutral-court action again in their season opener in September 2022 in Pueblo, Colorado.
- MSU Denver falls to 6-6 on the season after finishing 1-2 this weekend in Lubbock. The Roadrunners defeated Emporia State 4-3 on Friday before falling 5-2 against Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
