ALPINE, Texas (April 18, 2026) – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team swept Sul Ross State University 7-0 in its final road match of the season.
Five of the nine matches were shutouts for the Falcons.
Sophia Rashid and
Dinethya Dharmaratne won the first match without dropping a game at No. 3 doubles, and then
Peyton Jones and
Paige Sitanggang (No. 2 doubles) and
Fanny Bergstrom and
Mattea Bowe (No. 3 doubles) both won by a score of 6-1. It was the first win together for Bergstrom and Bowe and for Rashid and Dharmaratne.
Also not dropping a game in singles was Bergstrom (No. 1 singles), Rashid (No. 2 singles), Sitanggang (No. 3 singles) and Jones (No. 6 singles).
Bergstrom leads the Falcons with eight singles wins so far on the season, including four wins at No. 1 singles.
For the first time this season, Sitanggang played No. 3 singles and
Sophia Crosby, who earned her second win of the year, played No. 4 singles.
For Jones, it was her first singles action of the season.

- With their 10th straight win and 10th straight sweep over the Lobos, the Falcons improve to 6-12 overall and 2-6 in the Lone Star Conference. SRSU falls to 0-12 and 0-8, and has yet to win a match in conference play (all 7-0 defeats).
- The Falcons have just two more matches remaining in the season.
Weekend Combined Statistical Leaders:
- Peyton Jones and Paige Sitanggang were 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.
- Fanny Bergstrom was 2-0 at No. 1 singles.
- Sitanggang also won twice in singles, winning at both the No. 3 and No. 5 positions.
- Sitanggang led the Falcons with a perfect 4-0 combined record on the weekend.
Next Up: UTPB will close out the regular season with back-to-back home matches next week. First will be Texas A&M University-Kingsville starting at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 24, followed by the regular-season finale against No. 25 Angelo State University starting again at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. Both matches will be played at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland, Texas.
