SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 10, 2025) – The UT Permian Basin women's tennis team started off its Spring Break trip on a high note on Monday, winning 4-2 at Our Lady of the Lady University, which is ranked No. 18 in the NAIA. It was the Falcons' second 4-2 win in a row after defeating the Metropolitan State University of Denver by the same score eight days ago.
Brooke Runyan and
Paige Bott defeated Millie Wileman and Lucia Popluharova, who are ranked No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NAIA women's doubles rankings, by a score of 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Teodora Vrucan and
Tuva Asplund followed with a 6-2 win over Alexandra Mille and Marie Peters at No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Runyan started things off with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Popluharova at No. 1 singles and
Dinethya Dharmaratne defeated Michaela Muller 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to give UTPB a 3-0 lead.
After the Falcons fell at No. 6 and No. 4 singles, UTPB closed out the win with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 three-set win by Vrucan over Mille at No. 3 singles.
