FORT WORTH, Texas (October 25, 2025) – Competing at the same course as the DBU Old Glory Gallop two weeks ago, The University of Texas Permian Basin women's cross country team completed at the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championship on Saturday morning at AP Ranch.
It was the Falcons' first 6K race since the season opener at the Texas Tech Open (Sept. 12).
In the end, the Falcons were led for the first time this season by freshman
Celine Maldonado, who ran a time of 26:40.32 to finish 94th out of 122 runners.
The next three Falcons finished in order with
Fanny Bergstrom (28:07.39) taking 109th,
Gabrielle Garcia (28:20.45) taking 110th, and
Nayeli Galindo (28:39.90) finishing in 111th place.
It was a season-best time for each of the top-four Falcon runners.
The final two Falcons also finished back-to-back, with
Julie Tejeda (31:33.17) in 116th and
Railey Rodriguez (31:52.43) in 117th.
West Texas A&M claimed its third consecutive Lone Star Conference women's cross country championship. The Lady Buffs totaled 37 points and posted the first four individual places. The WT finish line parade was led by junior Sarah Koomson (21:04.6) who became the sixth runner in LSC women's cross country history to win two individual titles and is the seventh multi-title winner. Naomi Addo (21:04.8), Abigail Abuguire (21:29.9) and Julie Lafare (21:30.9) placed two-three-four, respectively, with Yvonne Legarreta (27th, 22:58.4) completing WT scoring.
Midwestern State finished second (77 pts), its best LSC championship finish since winning the title in 2018, as runners Ella Pando and Jadyn Dangerfield came in ninth and 10th. UT Tyler was third (80 pts.) in its best-ever LSC finish with a pair of Top 10 finishers -- Kailynn Denney (6th) and Macy Cogburn (8th).
Megan Williamson (4th) led DBU to fourth-place (109 pts.) followed by Oklahoma Christian (5th, 185), Cameron (6th, 199), St. Edward's (7th, 203), Lubbock Christian (8th, 213), Texas A&M International (9th, 236) and Western New Mexico (10th, 257).
Texas A&M-Kingsville finished 11th while UT Dallas, competing in its first LSC Championship, placed 12th (305) as Comet Alexia Callahan earned LSC Newcomer of the Year honors. Eastern New Mexico (13th, 313) was led by LSC Freshman of the Year Chama El-Hadiri (13th). Angelo State (14th, 393) and UT Permian Basin (15th, 471) completed team scoring as Sul Ross State competed as individuals.
