10/11/2025 11:57:00 PM

FORT WORTH, Texas (October 11, 2025) – Running at the same course that will host the Lone Star Conference Championships at the end of the month, the UT Permian Basin women's cross country team ran in its final tune-up before the LSC Championships at the DBU Old Glory Gallop at AP Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Old Glory Gallop is premier cross country meet in the DFW Metroplex, with this year's event featuring more than 40 teams from across the nation. The Old Glory Gallop is the largest collegiate cross country race in Texas and is an event that DBU has hosted for four consecutive years. Due to venue complications at Lynn Creek Park, the meet was temporarily relocated to AP Ranch in Fort Worth, the same site as the upcoming LSC Championships.

Fanny Bergstrom was 247th out of 340 runners with a 5K time of 22:07.73 and Celine Maldonado was 254th at 22:14.70.

Nayeli Galindo was 300th at 23:39.32, Gabrielle Garcia was 303rd at 23:51.05, and Julie Tejeda was 312th at 24:35.25.

Bergstrom, Maldonado and Galindo each ran a season-best time. Bergstrom shaved off 49.97 seconds, Maldonado ran one minute and 11 seconds faster, and Galindo ran 10 seconds faster than the previous race in Hobbs, New Mexico.

UT Permian Basin is off until Saturday, October 25, when it competes at the Lone Star Conference Championships in a return trip to AP Ranch.
