ODESSA, Texas (October 16, 2024) – Junior
Ioan Rowe of The University of Texas Permian Basin men's golf team was named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week.
Rowe shot four-under in round one and was seven-under through two rounds before shooting even-par during round three and taking third place at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational (206-67, 68). Rowe posted 12 birdies and finished third in par-4 scoring (3.85; -5) for the tournament, leading the Falcons to second place on the team board.
UTPB Head Coach
Paul Chavez said, "I am extremely proud of Ioan for this honor. He is a tireless worker, and is well-deserving of this honor. He is the type of player who gets the most out of each and every round, and I love how he dissects the golf course and plays to his strengths. In regard to his success at this last tournament, Ioan has a great short game and a really good putter, and with the green being firm and fast, he was able to handle those conditions very well."
Rowe and the Falcons have one more tournament this Fall, competing next at the DBU Classic on Monday, October 27, to Tuesday, October 28, at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club, the same course as the Lone Star Conference Championships in April.
