ABILENE, Texas (September 17, 2024) – The defending Lone Star Conference Champion University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team competed at the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboy Classic over the weekend, playing four lines of doubles and seven lines of singles against three teams. NCAA Division III Hardin-Simmons invited Division II teams Dallas Baptist, St. Mary's Texas, and UT Permian Basin to play in random draw singles and doubles for the weekend tournament in Abilene.

The Falcons were a combined 13-8 in singles and 8-4 in doubles.

Against both Hardin-Simmons and St. Mary's, UTPB was 4-3 in singles matches and 3-1 in doubles. Against Dallas Baptist, the Falcons were 5-2 in singles matches and split the doubles action 2-2.

Lucas Nitzschke was a perfect 6-0 on the weekend and was 3-0 at No. 3 singles.

Sergio Alejandro Gonzalez Ibanez was 3-0 at No. 4 singles and was 2-1 with Jonas Krahofer at No. 1 doubles.

Lucas Nakasato (No. 2-3 doubles), Jonathan Vega (No. 2-3 doubles) and Florian Kralik (No. 3 doubles) were all 3-0 in doubles.

Krahofer was 2-1 at No. 2 singles while Kralik was also 2-1 at No. 6 singles.

The Falcons have two weeks to prepare for the ITA South Central Regional, which begins on September 26 at the Summers Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas.
