Career Nights for Link and Robinson Carry Falcons at Angelo State

MJ Link has had a lot of huge games in his short time at UT Permian Basin, but Saturday night at Angelo State may have been his biggest.  Link set a career high with 157 yards on six catches along with a touchdown.  The 157 yards are the third most in a game in program history.  Defensively D'Ondre Robinson had a banner night with 18 tackles, the most in a game by a player other than Chris Hoad.

The Falcon offense started slow but finally broke through late in the first quarter.  Clayton Roberts dropped a dime into the lap of Link for a 62-yard score.  Later in the first half, Roberts found Link over the middle for a grab of 28 yards.  In the third it was Roberts to Link once again for a big play.  This time Roberts hit Link on a short pass, who cut to the outside for 44 yards.

The Falcons had a terrific night on special teams.  Late in the first half, Jaques Tyler blocked the 10th kick of his career.  In the fourth, the Falcons did it again this time off a punt.  Jamil Pittman broke through for the block, scoop, and score from 16 yards out.

The defense combined for 12 tackles for a loss while Trent Ward had an interception in the first quarter.  The effort wasn't enough as the Rams took advantage of four Falcon turnovers for the 34-14 final.

The Falcons head to Grande Stadium next week for Homecoming against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday night.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the Falcons all season long.
