Biography

2021: Mayes led the Falcons with 75 tackles and was named an All-Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention.  He also led the team with 13 tackles for a loss to go along with two sacks and an interception.  He had 12 tackles against Division I for Abilene Christian.  At Angelo State he made 11 tackles including 2.5 for loss.  Mayes had six tackles and a sack at Texas A&M—Commerce.  In the bowl game, he made 10 tackles and recorded a sack against Oklahoma Baptist. 

Spring 2021: Mayes led the Falcon defense with 41 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss, while also recording two sacks in five starts at linebacker.  He had season-high 12 tackles in season opener against Southern Nazarene on 2/27.  Mayes recorded 11 tackles against Lincoln on 3/6.  At Texas A&M - Kingsville, Mayes had 9 tackles with 1.5 tackles for a loss.  In the season finale against Midwestern State, Mayes had a pair of sacks to go along with 4 tackles on the day.
 
2019: Redshirted season.
 
2018: Mayes played in eight games as a sophomore, ending the season with nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. He recorded three tackles against Western New Mexico. He made a pair of tackles and had 0.5 tackles for loss against Texas A&M - Commerce. He made three tackles, had a tackle for loss and recovered a fumble at Texas A&M - Kingsville.
 
2017: Mayes played in six games as a freshman, making seven tackles on the season. He had a 45-yard punt return at Eastern New Mexico.
