The University of Texas Permian Basin has announced the addition of Jagan Daughters as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program under Head Coach Kyle Tolin

"Jagan comes highly recommended and has spent time in the Lone Star Conference," spoke Coach Tolin. "He is a hard worker and has really added to our staff already. I am excited to get the opportunity to work with him."

Daughters joins the Falcons after spending the 2025-26 season as a graduate assistant at Angelo State University, where he worked under Head Coach Vinay Patel alongside Connor Moore and Cole Rabedeaux.

Prior to Angelo State, Daughters spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Kansas Wesleyan University under Head Coach Anthony Monson, where he was a finalist for the program's 2024-25 Assistant Coach of the Year award. During his tenure, KWU finished as the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference runner-up and earned a No. 5 seed in the NAIA National Tournament. He also played a key role in player development, helping guide multiple standout athletes, including All-KCAC and NAIA honorees such as Alex Littlejohn, Jun Murdock, and Evens Apollon, while contributing to record-setting performances across scoring, rebounding, assists, and defensive categories.

Daughters enters his fourth season coaching at the collegiate level after transitioning into coaching following his playing career at Dean College.

"Coach Tolin is an established coach in this industry," said Daughters. "He has won everywhere he has been, and I knew that working for him, having the opportunity to be at an institution like UTPB, and remain in the Lone Star Conference was something I could not pass up."

A Texas native, Daughters comes from a basketball family, with his brother Hogan currently serving as a high school basketball coach at Franklin High School.

Daughters said he is eager to help continue building the Falcons' program and compete at a high level in one of the nation's toughest conferences.

"I am excited for the future of our program," he said. "I believe we have a great opportunity to compete at a high level in the Lone Star Conference and the South Central Region."

For Daughters, coaching is about much more than wins and losses – it is an opportunity to give back and play a role in the overall development of young adults. That mindset has been shaped in part by a lesson he learned from his high school athletic director, Adrian Adams, which has remained a guiding principle throughout his coaching journey.

"My high school athletic director Adrian Adams said something once that has always stuck with me on the outlook of coaching. He stated 'When I die, God will not judge me on my wins and losses. He will judge me on the positive impact I made on the athletes I coached.'"

Daughters added that he is grateful for the opportunity to join the Falcon family.

"I am truly blessed and grateful to have been given the opportunity to be an assistant under Coach Tolin at The University of Texas Permian Basin."
