ODESSA, Texas (April 11, 2026) – The UT Permian Basin men's golf team continues to position itself among the top contenders in the region as the Falcons earned their spot in the NCAA Division II final regional rankings, the organization announced this week. With the team ranked inside its respective region, the Falcons are firmly in contention for an NCAA postseason bid and a chance to compete for a national championship.
The ranking marks another strong milestone for a UTPB program that has consistently been in the national conversation throughout the 2025-26 season.
UTPB is one of seven schools from the Lone Star Conference among the top-10 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region Rankings. CSU Pueblo is No. 1 in the region followed by four schools from the LSC.
This week's South Central Region rankings are led by CSU Pueblo at No. 1, followed by St. Mary's (Texas), Dallas Baptist, and West Texas A&M rounding out the top-four while UTPB holds firm at No. 5 in a loaded regional field that will ultimately send teams to the NCAA postseason.
Individually,
Will Tate continues to lead the way for the Falcons. The senior is currently ranked No. 30 in the country and has been a steady force in the lineup all season, posting a 70.8 scoring average. His consistent play at the top of the lineup has played a key role in UTPB's success and ability to compete with the region's best teams.
The regional placement reflects UTPB's success against both LSC and South Central Region opponents. NCAA regional rankings are determined using several key criteria, including head-to-head competition, results against common opponents, scoring averages, and performance metrics.
As the postseason approaches, the Falcons remain firmly in position to secure a berth in the NCAA South Central Regional Championship.
