ODESSA, Texas (March 27, 2026) – The NCAA has released its latest round of rankings for each region and UT Permian Basin men's golf was ranked fifth out of 11 teams from the South Central Region.

This is a look at teams in numerical ranked order, 1-11. The NCAA's regional rankings are used to help determine the teams selected for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.

The Falcons made the regional as a team in 2023 and 2024, and are now primed to do so for the first time under Head Coach Paul Chavez.

In total, 20 teams from the South Central Region and the West Region will meet in the combined regional with 10 bids coming from both sides. UTPB is listed fourth among the seven LSC teams in the region standings.

In addition to No. 5 UTPB, the other teams on the list from the Lone Star Conference include: No. 2 St. Mary's (Texas), No. 3 Dallas Baptist University, No. 4 West Texas A&M, No. 7 The University of Texas at Tyler, No. 8 Cameron, and No. 10 Midwestern State.

The four other teams on the list for the South Central Region are comprised of teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference: No. 1 Colorado Mesa, No. 6 Colorado State University Pueblo, No. 9 Colorado Christian, and No. 11 Colorado School of Mines.

WEEK IN REVIEW
UT Permian Basin and individual medalist Will Tate led both teams and players wire-to-wire in winning the 18-team Midwestern State Invitational (Mar. 23-24). UTPB finished 2-under as a team (850-284, 277, 289) while Tate was a hot 10-under (203-67, 68, 68).

CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON AHEAD
The Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club is the site for the LSC Golf Championship Tournaments. The men's tournament is set for April 20-21-22 with Midwestern State looking to defend its title.

The NCAA Division II Golf Championship tournaments fill the month of May. Men's Super Regional play is May 7-9 in Stockton, California, with the national finals May 18-22 in Boulder City, Nevada.

UTPB's final tournament before the Lone Star Conference Championship will be the RJGA Palm Valley Classic on Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7, at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
