ODESSA, Texas (March 26, 2026) – After winning the Midwestern State Invitational for the second year in a row, UT Permian Basin men's golfer
Will Tate has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the third time in the last two seasons.
Tate successfully defended his Midwestern State Invitational title and also led UT Permian Basin to the team win, posting a 10-under 203 (67, 68, 68) for back-to-back medalist honors. The senior led the tournament after each of the three rounds opening with a 4-under 67 for round one and was 7-under heading into the final round. Tate's performance put him in the UTPB record book as the three-round 203 set the Falcons' mark by one stroke and his two-round 135 ties as the second-lowest two-round score.
UTPB Head Coach
Paul Chavez said, "Will is well-deserving of this honor. Being the back-to-back champion at any tournament is a tough task, and being able to defend his title is a testament to his hard work and dedication and overall being a great player."
