ODESSA, Texas (March 15, 2026) – UT Permian Basin men's golf was one of 11 teams from the South Central Region listed in the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings as a team being considered for the postseason.
This initial release is not in ranked order. The top 11 teams currently under consideration are listed in alphabetical order.
In addition to UTPB, there were six other teams on the list from the Lone Star Conference: Cameron, Dallas Baptist University, Midwestern State, St. Mary's (Texas), The University of Texas at Tyler, and West Texas A&M.
The four other teams on the list for the South Central Region are comprised of teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference: Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, and Colorado State University Pueblo.

The UTPB men's golf team is currently ranked No. 24 in the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings (Clippd Scoreboard rankings) and is No. 25 in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll.

According to the latest Scoreboard by Clippd national rankings, the South Central Region remains one of the most competitive regions in Division II men's golf. Several programs in the region currently sit inside the national top-25, including No. 8 St. Mary's (Texas), No. 12 Colorado Mesa, No. 13 Colorado State Pueblo, No. 15 Dallas Baptist, No. 19 West Texas A&M, No. 24 UT Permian Basin, and No. 25 Midwestern State.
Under the leadership of head coach
Paul Chavez, the Falcons have put together a strong season on the course and remain well positioned as the Spring championship portion of the schedule approaches.
The Falcons will return to action tomorrow, March 16-17, at the Oak Tree Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma. UTPB will then compete for the second week in a row, March 23-24, at the Midwestern State Invite in Wichita Falls, Texas.
UTPB will later turn its attention to the LSC Championships (Apr. 20-22), with the final NCAA regional rankings later this Spring determining the teams selected to compete in the NCAA Division II postseason.
The NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional Tournament will take place at Stockton Country Club in Stockton, California, May 7-9.
The top-five teams and the top-two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship, May 18-22, at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
