Meet
Allyson Reed, a junior majoring in Marketing at UTPB. When Reed is not in the classroom or studying, you can find her on the soccer pitch as a dedicated member of the UTPB women's soccer team. Reed identifies as Afro-Latina, a facet of her identity that holds significant meaning in her life.
"I grew up in a Spanish household, and also visit family in Honduras quite often," said Reed. "It has always been a big part of my life."
Reed continues to embrace her culture through family traditions.
"We usually celebrate our Independence Day on September 15th, and will eat our divine cuisine, spend time with our family's, and dance, said Reed."
One of Reed's favorite aspects of UTPB is the diversity on campus and the sense of community that comes with it.
"I love how much diversity there is here at UTPB and the community we have here," she says.
