MIDLAND, Texas (April 18, 2025) – No. 50 UT Permian Basin men's tennis defeated Sul Ross State University 7-0 at home on Friday to get back into the win column in the Lone Star Conference. The Falcons improve to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the LSC, and have three matches remaining in the regular season.
UTPB lost just four games between both doubles and singles action.
Four of the seven matches that were played were shutouts for the Falcons as
Florian Kralik and
Grzegorz Rudnicki won 6-0 at No. 2 doubles,
Jonathan Vega (No. 38 nationally-ranked in singles) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles,
Lucas Nakasato won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and
Jonas Krahofer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.
The No. 23 nationally-ranked doubles pair of Vega and Krahofer won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. The remaining singles matches saw Kralik win 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while
Sebastian Garcia picked up his first win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Joseph Rangel at No. 5 singles.
