LUBBOCK, Texas (March 2, 2025) – The No. 23-ranked University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team took care of business against the Metropolitan State University of Denver, winning by a score of 4-1 on Sunday in neutral-court action in Lubbock, Texas.
Sergio Alejandro Gonzalez Ibanez and
Lucas Nitzschke defeated Hector Cebrian Moral and Lluc Limongi Ollers 6-0 at No. 3 doubles and
Grzegorz Rudnicki and
Florian Kralik defeated Alejandro Jimenez and Enzo Inghilterra 6-2 at the No. 2 spot to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
UTPB led 3-0 as Gonzalez Ibanez defeated Marco Jalalian 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles and Rudnicki defeated Jimenez in three sets, 7-5, 0-6, 6-3, at No. 2 singles.
After Rudnicki overcame a 6-0 defeat in his second set, Vega could not do the same at No. 1 singles and instead suffered a comeback defeat, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, something he normally does to his opponent.
Winning the match was
Jonas Krahofer with a three-set win himself, 7-5, 2-6, 7-5, at No. 4 singles, winning his two sets by needing to play an extra game.

- No. 23 UTPB improves to 4-2 on the season. The Falcons had previously fell 5-0 against MSU Denver in September 2019 and 5-2 in their season opener in September 2022, both times in Pueblo, Colorado.
- MSU Denver drops to 4-7 after going 0-3 in Lubbock this weekend against Emporia State, Lubbock Christian and UTPB.
Next Up: UTPB will have one more neutral-court match this season. It will be next Sunday, March 9, against No. 24 Southern Arkansas University in Midlothian, Texas.
