PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 1, 2025) – The University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team continues to show promise for its Spring season as the Falcons, ranked No. 25 in NCAA Division II, defeated Arizona Christian University, ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, by a score of 6-1.
The pairings of
Grzegorz Rudnicki and
Florian Kralik (No. 1 doubles, W 6-2) and
Jonas Krahofer and
Lucas Nitzschke (No. 3 doubles, W 6-3) gave UTPB the doubles point.
In singles,
Sergio Alejandro Gonzalez Ibanez defeated Samuel Miyata 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Krahofer also won 6-1, 6-1 over Petar Wemmenhove, who is ranked No. 39 nationally in the NAIA for singles, at No. 3 singles.
Florian Kralik defeated Tobias Frantz 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot to clinch the victory.
Jonathan Vega defeated Hugo Abril, the No. 8 nationally-ranked singles player in the NAIA, by a score of 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles.
UTPB's lone loss in singles came in a third-set super tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.

Next Up: The Falcons are off for 20 days, returning to action February 21-23 in Tyler, Texas, for a trio of matches against Harding University, Delta State University, and No. 18-ranked Mississippi College.
