ODESSA, Texas (July 29, 2024) – UT Permian Basin tennis excelled in the classroom with 14 student-athletes recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as scholar-athletes, tied for the fourth most in the Lone Star Conference for 2023-24. The Falcons had five men and tied for second in the conference with nine women while both teams were also recognized as an All-Academic Team.
To earn scholar-athlete status a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.5 GPA for both semesters and be eligible for the entire season. To garner team status, the Falcons had to have a minimum of 3.2 and all letterwinners must factor into the cumulative GPA.
Head Coach
Alex Hunt said, "With all the success we've had on court the last year or so, this is just icing on the cake. Our student-athletes give everything they have not only to tennis, but their overall college experience inside and outside of the classroom. I'm super proud of the men's and women's teams for taking care of business. This is yet another recognition of success that we'll look to have as a standard for our two tennis programs for years to come."
