MIDLAND, Texas - The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team got a singles win from
Paige Bott but it wasn't enough to defeat No. 3 Midwestern State on Saturday. The Falcons fell to the Mustangs, 6-1, at Bush Tennis Center in Midland, Texas.
"We had a lot of competitive matches today against one of the top teams in the country, so that was exciting to see. Shoutout to Paige for getting a big win today," said head coach
Alex Hunt.
The Mustangs swept the doubles point but the match on court one came down to the wire.
Brooke Runyan and
Mattea Bowe came up just short in a 7-6 (9-7) final. Singles was much of the same with the highly-ranked Mustangs winning five of the six in straight sets. Bott was able to come away victorious on court four, 7-5, 6-3.
UTPB hits the road to face Texas A&M - Kingsville on Saturday, April 14.
