LAWTON, Oklahoma - The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team came up just short in their attempt at an upset over No. 30 Cameron, falling 4-3 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
"We certainly missed a big opportunity today," said head coach
Alex Hunt. "We pushed Cameron further than we ever have before, but they were more mentally tough than we were in the tight moments. We have a crucial match tomorrow against Fort Smith. It's going to be a very important day for us."
The Falcons jumped out to the early lead after winning the doubles point.
Brooke Runyan and
Mattea Bowe earned a win on court one, 6-4, while
