LAWTON, Oklahoma - The University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team remained undefeated in Lone Star Conference play with a 5-2 victory over defending champion Cameron on Friday.

"I'm proud of the guys today. We went out and defeated the defending conference tournament champs 5-2," said head coach
Alex Hunt. "It's a testament to the team's professionalism and accountability toward each other to always show up. We have another test tomorrow against Fort Smith. It should be a good one."

Despite dropping the match on court one, the Falcons took the doubles point.
Vitaliy Horovoy and
Jonathan Vega earned a 6-2 win on court two while
Takumi Katsuda and
Lucas Nitzschke earned a 6-3 win on three for the point.

UTPB followed that with a strong performance in singles, taking four of the six contests. Katsuda won on two 6-4, 7-5 while
Jonas Krahofer earned a straight-set, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, win on court five. The other two Falcon wins took a third set. Horovoy battled back after dropping the first set to win on court one, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. On three, Vega also came-from-behind to win his match 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Falcons take on Arkansas - Fort Smith tomorrow at 10 a.m. before returning home next week.
