MIDLAND, Texas - Winning five of the six singles matches, the University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team cruised to a 5-2 win over UT Tyler on Sunday.
 
"I'm super proud of the ladies today," said head coach Alex Hunt. "It's always tough dropping the doubles point, especially to a team we've never beaten before, but our girls never stopped believing. The girls fought until the very end to claim the 5-2 team victory. We, as a team, definitely saw today what we are capable of when we all show up physically, mentally, and emotionally. It was great to see."
 
Paige Bott and Teodora Vrucan earned a doubles win on court three, 6-3, but the Patriots were victorious on courts one and two to take the point. Bott then got the Falcons going in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win on court four.
 
Tuva Asplund, 6-3, 6-0, and Mattea Bowe, 6-4, 6-3, followed shortly after to put the Falcons on the verge of clinching. Vrucan then clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court two. Lisa Guitton followed shortly after with a win on court three, 7-6 (7-1), 2-6, 10-3.
 
The Falcons hit the road next week to face Cameron on Friday, March 29.
