UTPB Heats Up In Florida

SANDESTIN, Fla. – Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga and sophomore Arnie Taguines are among the top four as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team closed out Day 2 of the Emerald Coast Collegiate. 

The tournament is being played at Baytowne Golf Club, a Par 71 with a total yardage of 5,881 yards.

#6 Flagler is at +6 (290-284) and lead by 20 strokes over #7 Central Missouri (297-297) and UTPB (303-291).  Rounding out the top five are #10 St. Mary's (Texas) (4th – 302-293, +27) and UMSL (5th – 309-297, +38).

The Falcons score of 291 was an improvement by 12 strokes and the second lowest score of the day.  It also tied for second lowest single round score in program history.

Individually, Stella Jelinek (Flagler) is at -5 (71-66) and leads by three strokes over Rebecca Reed of St. Mary's (Texas) (69-71).

Gurruchaga is third at -1 (70-71). She is tied for first in Pars with 29, tied for second in Par 3 Scoring at 2.90, is third in Par 4 Scoring at 4.06 and among the top 10 in Par 5 Scoring at 4.88.

Taguines is tied for fourth at even (72-70).  She is tied for second in Par 3 Scoring at 2.90, tied for fourth in Par 4 Scoring at 4.11, tied for fifth in Pars with 26 and among the top 10 with five birdies and in Par 5 Scoring at 4.88

Junior Gabriela Maldonado is tied for 33rd at +12 (80-74).  She is tied for second in Par 3 Scoring at 2.90 and among the top 10 with six birdies.

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir is tied for 43rd at +15 (81-76).

Freshman Amanda Davidsson is tied for 75th at +21 (86-77).

UT Permian Basin closes out the Emerald Coast Collegiate, Tuesday, Mar. 12.
