UTPB Adds To The Record Book

BOCA RATON, Fla. – There were two additions to the record book as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team closed out the Lynn Invite. 

The tournament was played at Boca Woods Country Club, a Par 72 with a total yardage of 6,095 yards.

The field was extremely competitive as seven of the top 13 ranked NCAA Division II teams competed.

#2 Dallas Baptist shot -1 (288-287-288) to win by 18 strokes over NAIA #2 Keiser.  Rounding out the top five were #8 Rollins (3rd – 290-292-300 = +18), #12 Barry (4th – 296-296-292 =- +20) and #9 Lynn (5th – 286-302-298 = +22).

UT Permian Basin finished 11th (303-307-318 = +65).  The Falcons score of 929 is the fourth lowest Three Round score in program history.

Individually, Ella Cheek (Dallas Baptist) shot -2 (71-66-77) to win by two strokes over Camila Madariaga (Lynn).

Sophomore Arnie Taguines tied for 14th at +4 (69-70-80).  She was second in Par 4 scoring at 4.00 and among the top 10 in birdies with 10.  Taguines score of 220 is the fifth lowest Three Round score in UTPB history.

Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga tied for 43rd at +17 (76-78-79).  She recorded 35 pars.

Junior Gabriela Maldonado tied for 49th at +18 (74-78-82).

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir tied for 60th at +27 (84-81-78).

Freshman Amanda Davidsson was 63rd at +36 (84-87-81).

UT Permian Basin competes at the Emerald Coast Classic, Sunday thru Tuesday, Mar. 10-12.  The tournament is at Baytowne GC in Sandestin, Fla.
