LUBBOCK, Texas – Everything was in perfect alignment for The University of Texas Permian Basin men's tennis team on Day 2 of the ITA South Central Regional.  UTPB went 8-2 in singles and doubles action on the day.

At Flight A Doubles, sophomores Takumi Katsuda and Jonas Krahofer beat sophomore Vitaliy Horovoy and freshman Lucas Nitzschke (2-6, 6-1, 10-8 Tie Breaker) to advance to the championship final.

In the quarterfinals, Horovoy and Nitzschke beat Jordi Garcia and Carel Wessel of UT Tyler 9-7.  Katsuda and Krahofer won by the same score against Killian Guillou and Germano Setti of Midwestern State.

In the Flight A Singles main draw, Horovoy and Katsuda both won twice to advance to the semi-finals.  Horovoy beat Setti (7-5, 6-4) and Alvaro Soler of St. Mary's (6-7, 6-3, 6-4).  In 2022-23, Setti was Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year and a second team All-LSC selection while Soler was an All-LSC first team pick.

Katsuda defeated Stephen Slocombe of Midwestern State (6-3, 6-7, 6-4) and Tristan Vigneron of Lubbock Christian (4-6, 6-1, 6-1).

In the Flight A Singles consolation draw, Krahofer beat Daniel Matheu Baldor of St. Mary's when Baldor had to retire due to injury.  In the quarterfinals, Krahofer beat Alvaro Chavez of Cameron (7-6, 6-2).
