ARLINGTON, Texas - It was a day of tough performances as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's tennis team competed at the ITA South Central Regional Championships.

In singles action, UTPB played very tough as seven of its matches were decided in a tiebreaker.  In the main draw of B Flight, sophomore Montserrat Salazar beat Kanaha Furutani of Midwestern State (1-6, 6-4, 10-8 Tie Breaker).  In the consolation round, senior Olga Guillamon-Sanmartin bounced back to beat Gracie Wood of Lubbock Christian (8-1).

In the consolation round of 32 in the main draw, junior Brooke Runyan defeated Ayda Guler of Angelo State (6-3, 6-2).  Junior Teodora Vrucan came from behind to knock off Skylar Minns of Midwestern State (4-6, 6-1, 10-6 Tie Breaker).

For doubles, in the main draw of B Flight, freshman Chloe O'Connor and Salazar beat Maya Adler and Wood of Lubbock Christian 9-7.  They will play Elise Carbo and Sarah Stewart of Dallas Baptist in the semi-finals, Friday, Sept. 22.

In the consolation round of 16 in the main flight, the Falcons picked up two wins.  Freshmen Paige Bott and Mattea Bowe defeated Sofia Giraldo and Micaela McSpadden of Midwestern State (8-4).  Grad Student Lisa Guitton and Runyan beat Luna Jokanovic and Raina Zaffar of Texas A&M Kingsville (8-5).

UT Permian Basin remains in Arlington, Friday, Sept. 22 for the regional tournament.
