Falcons Open Up Season On The Road

ABILENE, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's cross country team opened the season at the Big Country Festival.  The Falcons, who ran a 5K, scored 161 points to finish 7th.

West Texas A&M placed four in the top six to score 26 points to win by 30 points over Texas A&M Commerce.  Rounding out the top five was Mary Hardin-Baylor (3rd – 78 points), McMurry (4th - 94 points) and Hardin Simmons (5th - 112 points).

For UTPB, the top runner was senior Alauna Stackhouse who ran 22:31.60 to place 20th.  Rounding out the squad was sophomore Kayla Cepeda (30th – 23:19.90), senior Miranda Hernandez (34th – 24:39.30), sophomore Yanitza Olivares (35th – 24:50.10) and junior Odalis Lujan (42nd – 32:00.50).

UT Permian Basin will compete at the Mustang Derby, Thursday, September 7 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
