ODESSA, TX – The UT Permian Basin Falcons gave the nationally ranked Seward County Community College all they could handle Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons picked up a doubles win and three singles wins, but came up one short, falling to SCCC 4-3.
"The Seward County women's team is extremely talented, especially at the top of their lineup, so we have to recognize that and move past this missed opportunity as we head into conference play," said Head Coach
Alex Hunt.
Hunt said there is still work to do in doubles play, but there is a lot to be excited about in singles.
"The singles results were promising as our number three player got another huge win. Our number three doubles team played very well too, but I think we could be better," said Coach Hunt. "Doubles points set the tone for the match, and when you find yourself down after doubles, it's always an uphill battle."
UTPB starts conference play next week with trip up to Western New Mexico on Saturday, February 25 starting at 10am.
