Falcons Closes Out Hawaii Trip

WAIMEA, Hawaii – Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga, junior Gabriela Maldonado and sophomore Arnie Taguines finished among the top 20 as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team closed out the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate. 

The tournament was played at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course, a Par 72 with a total yardage of 5,952 yards.

Cal State San Marcos shot 280-283 for a -13 to win by 21 strokes over Sonoma State.  Rounding out the top five were Cal State Monterey Bay (T3rd – 293-292, +9), Cal State L.A. (T3rd – 294-291, +9) and Cal State East Bay (5th – 292-298, +14).

UT Permian Basin shot 295-297 for a +16 to finish sixth.

Individually, Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos shot a -11 (69-64) to win by seven strokes over Diana Delgado of Cal State San Marcos.

Taguines finished third at -3 (69-72). She was second in Par 4 Scoring at 3.90, tied for second in Par 3 Scoring at 2.88 and was among the top 10 in birdies (6) and pars (27).

Gurruchaga and Maldonado tied for 16th at +3.  They both shot identical rounds both days at 73-74.

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir tied for 69th at +13 (80-77).

UT Permian Basin is off until Sunday, Mar. 10 when they open the Emerald Coast Classic in Sandestin, Fla.
