Taguines Chasing The Leaders

WAIMEA, Hawaii – Sophomore Arnie Taguines is in the hunt for first as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team finished Day 1 at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.  The tournament is being played at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course, a Par 72 with a total yardage of 5,952 yards.

Cal State San Marcos shot 280 for a -8 to lead by 11 strokes over Sonoma State.  Rounding out the top five are Cal State East Bay (3rd - 292, +4), Cal State Monterey Bay (4th – 293, +5) and Cal State L.A. (5th – 294, +6).

UT Permian Basin shot 295 for a +7 and are in sixth place.  They are just four shots out of second.

Individually, Daniela Andrade of Cal State L.A. and Diana Delgado of Cal State San Marcos shot a -4 (68).  They lead by a stroke over Taguines and Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos.

Taguines leads the field in Par 4 Scoring at 3.70 and is fourth with four birdies.

Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga is tied for 17th at +1 (73).  She is among the top 10 in Par 4 Scoring (4.00).

Junior Gabriela Maldonado is tied for 17th at +1 (73).  She leads the tournament with 15 pars and is third in Par 3 Scoring at 2.75.

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir is tied for 73rd at +8 (80).

UT Permian Basin closes out the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, Saturday, Oct. 28.
