Falcons Make Huge Improvement

WAIMEA, Hawaii – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's golf team finished up the HPU Sharks Shootout.  The tournament was played at the Hapuna Golf Course.

Cal State San Marcos shot 285-293 for a +18 to win by 13 strokes over Cal State East Bay, Cal State L.A. and Cal State Monterey Bay.  In fifth place was Sonoma State (295-297, +32)

UT Permian Basin shot 313-293 for a +46 to tie for 11th.  The 293 was a 20-shot improvement and tied for the second lowest round of the day.

Individually, Madison Murr of Cal State San Marcos shot 68-69 for a -3 to win by five strokes over Lily Landt of Hawaii Pacific and Elle McCord of Northwest Nazarene.

Sophomore Arnie Taguines tied for 11th at +7 (78-69).  Her 69 tied for the low score of the round.  Taguines finished tied for third with six birdies.

Junior Gabriela Maldonado tied for 23rd at +10 (77-73).  She carded 24 pars.

Junior Ainhoa Gurruchaga tied for 45th at +13 (78-75).

Freshman Katrin Davidsdottir tied for 63rd at +16 (80-76).

Freshman Amanda Davidsson was tied for 78th at +11 (81) after the first round.  She withdrew during the second round.

UT Permian Basin is at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 27-28.  The tournament is at Waikaloa Village GC
