MIDLAND, Texas – It was a clean sweep as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's swimming & diving team (3-1) beat Austin College (0-1) 266-16, Saturday afternoon at COM Aquatics. The Falcons went 1-2-3 in 13 of the 16 events.
Double winners were freshman Zane Garner in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events (56.11, 2:05.16), junior Niklas Heelein in the 200-yard IM (2:01.41) and 1650-yard freestyle (17:08.32), junior Legend Jankowski in the 200 and 500 free events (1:50.12, 4:59.10) and sophomore Owen Putnam in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events (53.07, 1:58.27).
UTPB won both relays: 200-yard medley (Garner, freshman Chase Alderman, junior Szymon Gilzynski, senior Trevor Heath at 1:38.55) and the 400 free (Heath, Gilzynski, freshman Colin Doyle, Heelein at 3:18.23).
Addition winners were freshman Alexander Brough in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.14), Gilzynski in the 50 free (22.17), Heath in the 100 free (48.36), senior Matthew Lenzo on the 3-meter board (305.85), junior Nathan Powell in the 200 breast (2:17.72) and sophomore Carter Wood on the 1-meter board (307.85).
UT Permian Basin will take on Incarnate Word, Friday, Nov. 3. The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
