Eugenie Varet made an instant impact in her first career tournament for UT Permian Basin Women's Golf. The freshman finished fifth at the West Texas Fall Invite with a final score of -1 (212) up in Amarillo.
Varet had a strong start yesterday putting her in contention before a final round of +2 (73). Not far behind her was fellow freshman
Arnie Taguines who finished tied for seventh at +1 (214) for the event.
Anaya Perales was tied for 20
th with a +9 and Kayla Perrera was not far behind at +13 over three rounds. Finishing the Falcon lineup was
Madeline Condron at +33.
Varet broke the program's 54-hole record and became the first player in program history to finish a tournament under par. The previous record was +10 (226) by Perales in last year's Lone Star Conference Championships. The team also shattered the 54-hole team record with 874, breaking the old record of 939.
