Gabriela Maldonado (76-77-78; 231; +15) shot plus-four, plus-five and plus-six, respectively, throughout the tournament, finished in a four-player tie for 27th place, and was tied for second in the field with 35 total pars. During the third round on Tuesday,
Ainhoa Gurruchaga (77-81-74; 232; +16) was two-under-par through eight holes and had moved up 14 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 25th place at the time. In the end, she finished two-over during the final round to move up eight spots from round two and place 31st.
Lorena Etxeberria (84-82-80; 246; +30) improved her score by two strokes during each round, culminating with a plus-eight during the final round to move up one spot and finish tied for 49th.
Ella Veretto (92-99-81; 272; +56) shot nine-over during the final round to move up one spot as well and finish in 54th place.
The tournament marked the end of the Falcons' first season under the direction of new Head Coach
Paul Chavez.
"It was obviously not the result we were looking for, but there was still some good in our performance this week as we had some personal bests," said Coach Chavez. "Obviously with four players, we are at a disadvantage, but we still have some positives to take away. Our two returners for next year, Ella and Lorena, got some good championship experience, and hopefully can use that to help us make a run at the championship next year."
It was the final action as a Falcon for Gurruchaga and Maldonado, something Coach Chavez made sure to reflect on.
"I also want to recognize our two seniors, Ainhoa and Gabriela, for hanging tough all year," concluded Chavez. "It was a unique situation with only four players, but they never complained, kept working hard and put together some good performances at the end of the year, so I am definitely proud of them."
