Playing in their final non-conference contest of the season,
Teodora Vrucan nearly had the biggest upset of the year for UT Permian Basin Tennis. The freshman fought hard in a three-set match on the No. 1 line against Division I's UTEP.
Vrucan took the first set 6-1 on the top line before her opponent battled back to force a third set. In that third set Vrucan fell 6-3. She also played well in doubles with teammate
Brooke Runyan but couldn't pull off the upset in a 6-3 final.
Lore Mewis and Runyan had strong showings, each taking five games while
Krystal Smith took four games from the Miners.
