After weather shifted the opening weekend schedule, UT Permian Basin's No. 1 Men's Doubles team nearly pulled off the upset over Division I's UT Arlington pairing. 
 
The duo of Patryk Kosinki and Hector Flores came the closest to pulling off the major upset.  Playing in the top doubles spot, they took the Mavericks down to the wire before falling 7-5.  In men's singles action, Paul Schwieger took the most points with five.
 
On the women's side, Krystal Smith fell after taking seven points in the No. 4 singles match-up.  Lore Mewis went to a tiebreaker in her first set before falling 7-5.
