Coming off their first win of the year, UT Permian Basin Women's Tennis faces a stiff test in Stephenville against two Division I opponents. This will bring the number of Division I opponents to four for the Falcons in the first month of the year.
The Falcons
The Falcons are coming off their first win of the season over the University of the Southwest last weekend. The Falcons swept the Mustangs for the victory. Freshman
Teodora Vrucan has been a bright spot for the team including a win at the No. 1 singles position.
UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros
This is the first meet all-time between the schools. The Vaqueros are 3-2 on the young season with a pair of wins over Division III competition. They will play three matches over the weekend in Stephenville, including host Tarleton on Sunday.
Tarleton State Texans
The Texans are off to a hot start, winning three matches in a row. With a 4-2 record, the Texans only losses have come to nationally ranked opposition in Texas A&M and Oklahoma. These teams last faced each other in Stephenville in 2019 when the Texans were still members of the Lone Star Conference. The Falcons lone win in the series came in Stephenville back in 2015.
The Falcons head east next week to take on a trio of teams over the weekend. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
