Box Score 4 UT Permian Basin Tennis picked up a clean sweep of Sul Ross State to close out a doubleheader that started the day with a Lone Star Conference match with UT Tyler. The Falcon women combined to drop just four games against the Lobos, while the men didn't drop a set. Earlier in the day the Falcons fell to the Patriots 6-1 in men's and 7-0 in women's.
The Falcons got the day started with a win in No. 1 singles 6-4. They nearly took the doubles point but fell in the No. 2 spot 7-5 in a closely contested match.
Aditya Iyer forced a third set before taking it 10-7 in a tiebreaker for the lone singles win.
Paul Schwieger and
Hector Flores also forced a third set, with Schwieger falling in a tiebreaker.
"We played some very good doubles today and were within one point of winning the doubles point. We just have to close out the key points," said Head Coach
Stan Anderson. The singles action was just as close but UTPB was only able to win one of the six singles matches. I though Aditya played really strong tennis today. He is getting better with every match. I think this was a step closer to where we want to be. UT Tyler is undefeated in the conference and we were with a couple of points of taking the match. You have to give them credit, they won the important points."

On the women's side the Falcons were once again able to take the No. 1 doubles match with
Anaya Singh and
Krystal Smith pulling off the 6-3 victory. The Falcons were close in singles, with two going to a third set tiebreaker and one having a first set tiebreaker, but couldn't pull off victory.
"I thought we battled really hard today. We have been forced to adjust our lineup because of injury and the ladies are showing just how tough they are," said Anderson. "This is a really difficult stretch of the season for us, but I feel like playing four division one teams has made us ready to take on the teams in our conference."

The women were even more dominant than the men, dropping only four games to the Lobos. The Falcons took four of the singles matches with a clean 6-0 sweep and two of the doubles matches.
"The women's match was the most dominating match of the season. We were able to rest some players and our other girls stepped in and played close to perfect this afternoon," said Anderson. "A trio of freshmen were able to get their first dual match wins of their careers.
Olga Guillamon played great, dhe has been working so hard and for her to win and the way she did it was a big boost for her confidence."
